Larry “DeWayne” Layton, 48, of Lucedale, MS, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 7, 2022.  DeWayne was born in Panama City, FL, on November 4, 1973, to Larry Mixon and Rachel “Elaine” Lee Layton. 

He was an avid outdoorsman and while growing up he loved spending time with his dad, hunting and fishing.  He was a small-town boy raised in Wewahitchka, FL, surrounded by Friday night football, friends, and family.  He was still referred to as “58” to hometown friends and teammates.  He was a family man with a fierce love for his children Porter and Marlowe, sister and brother-in-law Lori and Mike, parents Larry and Elaine, and his beloved grandparents Paw Paw and Maw Maw and Paw and Grannie. 

 DeWayne had a generous heart, a devotion to the underdog, and loyalty that was unmistakable.  He found a rewarding career in computer science, after graduating from the University of West Florida, and was phenomenal at what he did.  He was gifted and well-loved at CPSI in Mobile, AL, managing, mentoring, and befriending many co-workers that became family.  Those who knew DeWayne loved him, and those he loved understood just how loved they were.  He loved deeply, purely, and without judgement.  His smile was infectious and his laugh contagious.  He loved giving nicknames to those he loved and used them frequently.  His children were his greatest love, and he cherished their time together more than anything.  He was an honorable man who valued his relationships, God, and a greater purpose.
